Google Panda People Optimised Website (POW)
Panda is a new ever changing algorithm introduced by Google in March 2011. The algorithm is named after Navneet Panda, an engineer at Google. Navneet works on the scalability of machine learning algorithm. This has enabled Google to rank websites in a different way. If you had a good 1st page rank for years and then all of a sudden your out of the top 100 Your website has been PANDAD! It may feel like you’ve been given two black eyes making you strangley look like a panda.
So, what you have been doing as a SEO expert for years and had great results from for the past 10 or 15 years, aint going to be enough anymore. Google is now placing better rankings on websites that people like:
Enter Google +1 A long time after Facebook likes and Twitter tweets this now enables Google to get a better understanding of what the people like a lot and upgrading these websites and downgrading the ones people like less. So for starter if you’ve NOT got the Google +1 app or Facebook like button on your website your site could be downgraded. This however is just one part of the Google panda learning algorithm.
I watched The Terminator on BBC1 last night where the machines took over the World and thought about the similarity of Googles’ machines taking over the internet.
Google also gleens more info about the websites you/we like through Chrome and Android by registering how long and often folk are on a website, the info can also gained from Google Toolbar as well as its search engine results.
To recap, you are going to have to create websites that people like so much that they will feel a desire to share it with others. The like theme should run through all your website pages so, if some of your pages are low quality and not liked so much this could drag your ranking down. To describe this to some extent, you may think to yourself, I have good unique content. No, you have content that is going to be penalized by Google. That is exactly what Panda is designed to do. It is designed to learn this is content that someone wrote for SEO reasons just to have good unique content on the page and not content that makes everyone who sees it want to share it. Your SEO now has to incorperate a POW. A People Optimised Website. Build an interactive community around your brand
